Pembroke Holly Bazaar & LuncheonThursday, November 21 The annual Holly Bazaar and Luncheon at Holy Trinity, Pembroke has been rescheduled to Thursday, November 21 from 11am to 1:30pm. Doors open at 11am with lunch being served from 11:30am. The luncheon is homemade soups and sandwiches and gingerbread with butter rum sauce for dessert for only $12! The bazaar will include knitted, crocheted and other handicraft items, a re-gifting table of gently used gifts and Christmas decorations, a Silent Auction, Fifth Avenue Collection jewellery, and a bake table. Barry's Bay Wine & Cheese 2024Saturday, November 30 Tickets are now available for the Church of the Epiphany, Barry's Bay annual Wine & Cheese Pairing fundraiser on Saturday, November 30th from 2-5pm at the Barry's Bay Legion (250 John Street (Hwy 62) at Stafford). Join in for a tasting of gourmet cheeses paired with fine wines presented by our Ottawa epicurean extraordinaire. Tickets are $50/person with all proceeds going to Church of the Epiphany. In addition to new combinations of specialty cheeses to compliment good wines, there will be some Christmas baking and other tasty treats to try. At the end of the evening, there will be a wine & cheese cash auction for those who wish to try some more at home or for gifts. Advent Celebration of LightSunday, December 1 The annual Advent Celebration of Light at St John the Evangelist, Eganville will be held on Sunday, December 1st at 3pm. Please join in this traditional choral evensong with prayers of remembrance. All proceeds will support the sponsorship of students through St John's longstanding partners in Uganda, Wide Smiles For All Through Education, led by Rev. Kenneth Kasule. We also invite you to share those whom you wish to be remembered in prayer during the service, and their names will be entered into the Memorial Book. Christmas Concerts!December 8, 15, and 17 Please save the dates for three upcoming Christmas Concerts! Holy Trinity Pembroke's annual Christmas season concert, A Joyous Prelude to Christmas, returns on Sunday, December 8th at 3pm. St. George's South Alice once again hosts the St. George's Christmas Sing-A-Long on Sunday, December 15th at 2pm. The YoYo Mamas Fiddle Group will again hold a Christmas Concert at Church of the Epiphany, Barry's Bay, on Tuesday, December 17th at 7pm. Inauguration of the Indian Residential School Memorial Monument
On Monday, September 30th the official inauguration of the Indian Residential School Memorial Monument was held at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau. After serving on Vancouver Island in the community where the monument was carved, Rev. Christine was honoured to be present at this ceremony in Gatineau. The monument will now be on display at the museum year-round. You can watch the ceremony at the link below. The words of Chief Bobby Joseph and Carver Stan Hunt are of particular note, and the ceremony included Kwakiutl dancing and singing with transformational masks. These are masks and dances that were given special permission to be shared outside the Big House (Gukwdzi). For more infomation visit:

Meet Our Partners - Nov. 20
On Wednesday November 20, beginning at 5:30pm, supporters and friends of PWRDF are invited to attend a special Meet Our Partners event. The guests of honour will be Roseline Mukonoweshuro and Farai Bumisai, representing PWRDF partner TSURO Trust in Zimbabwe. Rosaline and Farai will be visiting Canada to deepen the PWRDF / TSURO Trust partnership, and to help raise awareness about the work they are doing in the areas of sustainability, climate action, and food security. The event will include a dinner featuring Zimbabwean food. Everyone is welcome to attend!
New Name
This month, PWRDF membership voted to change the organization's name to Alongside Hope. This is a decision that has been many years in the making. While the new name will officially take effect next year, Alongside Hope is already being gradually introduced and has been quite well received by supporters.
