The first Sunday of Advent, the first Sunday of our new Church year, begins at the end. We begin with the end of the story: with images of the return of Christ and reminders to "keep watch, keep awake, for you do not know the day or the hour of God's return." This beginning at the ending shapes our year and it shapes the watching and waiting that we are engaged in throughout this season of Advent.
