Christian marriage celebrates the union of a couple in the context of their relationship with Christ and the whole Christian family.
Contact a member of the clergy team at least 60 days before the date when you would like to be married. In addition to this being a national requirement of the Anglican Church of Canada, notification well in advance allows time for proper preparation for marriage and for a conversation with the priest about the details of the service. The Diocese of Ottawa requires that at least one member of the couple is baptized, and that the couple undertake formal marriage preparation in order to be married. Marriage preparation can be completed either in person or online, and your cleric can discuss these options with you.
The Diocese of Ottawa has authorized liturgies for same-sex weddings and for the blessing of same-sex relationships. The clergy of the diocese, with the permission of the bishop, are authorized to perform same-sex weddings.
